Each featured musician has years of experience delivering a high quality performance. We do not have the space to list all of their accomplishments but here is a brief outline.
Frank - Guitar/Management
Frank has been playing guitar since the age of 11, and has performed in many different bands over the years. He has played in a circuit jazz band in Kent, and a soul/funk band here in Dorset before returning to his true love: rock! The founder of Phoenix, Conflict and Sweet FA, Frank manages the three bands' bookings. He also is a full time guitar teacher, with over 20 private students learning the fine art of guitar playing. Frank also is a guitar technician, having rebuilt Justin Hawkins of the Darkness' guitar after a custom paint job. He will service and set up a range of instruments to any spec!
Sue - Vocals -
Sue began her professional singing career performing in local pubs and clubs in Dorset during the late 1990s. She also performed as lead vocalist in a rock tribute band touring the UK during 1999.
In 2002, Sue flew to Ibiza for the summer season, where she performed in some of the top hotels on the island. In 2003, Sue returned to the Balearic Islands. Her solo show debuted in Menorca in Summer 2004, and Sue performed over 150 shows during the summer season. Due to popular demand the show returned to Menorca in 2005.
Since 2006 Sue has been performing rock covers in the South of England as well as her own show.
Terry - Drums
After some minor success with local band Shoot The Moon Terry moved to London for seven years. He signed to Soto management in the 80s as a session drummer playing with the bands Sigue Sigue Sputnik and rock band Treason plus many more, playing such venues as the Astoria and The Hippodrome, and a resident gig at Stringfellows.
He moved back to Bournemouth in the '90s, and formed new wave band We Killed Bambi. He also started playing in clubs and doing some teaching. He joined Phoenix in 2005 to get back to Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll !!
Simon - Bass
Simon has been playing bass guitar for over 27 years. In that time he has appeared on television numorous times and played live on the radio. His gigging has covered the UK from the very north coast of Scotland to Jersey in the channel islands. Gigs have included the Hard Rock Cafe's in London and Edinburgh as well as BBC Music Live.
He has worked with many great musicians including members of Wet Wet Wet, Robbie Williams band and The Brand New Heavies. His favorite musical experience was being invited to record at Sting's house in Wiltshire.
Band History:
In 2002 Frank Joined the band 'Midnight Hour', a Dorset based soul/funk and disco function band. Although not really his style, out of Midnight Hour 'Air Guitar' was born... A rock band to co-exist with Midnight hour but to play pubs as opposed to weddings etc!
In Feb 2005 both bands were dispanded and Phoenix was born. Initially the line up was Frank (guitar), Lynds (vocals), Lidia (bass), Jess (guitar) and a different drummer every week! Terry soon joined Phoenix, and Jess left.
In Dec 2006 Frank started putting Conflict together, with Simon (bass) Dave (drums) and Clarke (sort of vocals!) completing the line up. Frank soon learned that Bloozer had ceased playing and so recruited Andy to replace Clarke.
Conflict hit the road running, taking over from Phoenix as the main event!
In 2008 Lynds had baby Macey, which meant more Conflict gigs and Verina stepping in to cover Phoenix bookings.
Now things have moved full circle, as Phoenix is the main band whilst Conflict find a new singer. Sue joined Phoenix in April 2009 and the band has boosted its following greatly since then. Bookings have also gone nuts, with new venues desperate to re-book the band once they have witnessed our show. The future is bright... but the hell is it orange!!
